Significance of the Transaction
SmartPill technology strengthens Given Imaging’s value proposition to gastroenterologists by offering industry-leading patient-friendly GI diagnostics solutions. The acquisition will ensure continued investment in clinical trials, market development and manufacturing efficiency to support future growth of SmartPill. On 27 February, 2014, Covidien announced the its acquisition of Given Imaging. The acquisition is projected to add between $40 and $50 million per quarter in incremental revenue.
